Washday Pudding

Layers of bread crumbs and layers of chopped apples in pudding dish, seasoned with butter, sugar, and cinnamon or nutmeg. Pour over one cup water and bake. Serve with cream and sugar.

  2. I believe it is, remember that these recipes are 103 years old! There are no temperature instructions on many of the recipes as I suspect many were written for "wood stoves". I've tried a few recipes and they are for the most part very tasty. I substitute vegetable shortening for lard if it is in a recipe. I've also done this recipe with apples and plums together!
